For more than a decade, Our Saviour's has partnered with Vida Humana, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mozambique, and ELCA Global Mission to strengthen communities through compassionate care, nutritious food, and educational opportunities.
Together, we're building relationships that help children, families, and communities thrive.
Our partnership with Mozambique began in 2009 through a shared commitment to care for our neighbors and support ministries already making a difference. Working alongside Vida Humana, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mozambique, and ELCA Global Mission, we support locally led initiatives that address three essential needs: healthcare, hunger, and education. Rather than bringing solutions from the outside, this partnership is rooted in walking alongside faithful leaders who know their communities best and are creating lasting change from within.
God's work is seen in classrooms, homes, clinics, churches, and communities across Mozambique.
Through visits to Chimoio, partnerships with Vida Humana and Aka Power School, and the generosity of our congregation, this ministry continues to support healthcare, nutrition, education, and relationships that strengthen communities in Mozambique. Members of Our Saviour's have worshiped alongside local congregations, delivered school supplies, distributed e'Pap nutrition, prayed with families, collaborated with teachers, and experienced firsthand the incredible work God is doing through our ministry partners.
Most recently, members of Our Saviour's returned from another visit to Mozambique in July 2026. Stories, photos, and trip reflections will be shared soon.
Partnership began in 2009
More than 25 volunteer healthcare advocates provide in-home care for individuals experiencing illnesses such as malaria, tuberculosis, cholera, and HIV/AIDS. They deliver medication, monitor those without family caregivers, and offer emotional and spiritual encouragement alongside physical care. What began as a small medicine closet inside a local Lutheran church has grown into a dedicated healthcare center that has become a model for neighboring communities.
Partnership began in 2012
Good nutrition is essential to good health. The Hunger Initiative provides e'Pap, a nutrient-rich porridge that helps children and adults receive the nourishment needed to stay healthy and benefit from medical treatment. Although e'Pap itself is inexpensive, transportation, tariffs, and shipping significantly increase costs. Annual Mozambique fundraisers help make this vital ministry possible.
Aka Power School was established in 2011. Education creates opportunity.
Aka Power School was established to serve children whose refugee families from Zimbabwe faced language barriers that prevented them from attending local schools. Today, the school serves hundreds of students through bilingual education in English and Portuguese. Teachers faithfully serve despite limited resources, while support from Our Saviour's helps provide textbooks, classroom supplies, nutrition, and educational materials that allow students to flourish.
